GUARDIANS is a fraternity of men committed to living a holy life before the Lord.  We are well aware of the struggles that men face in their flesh and we are determined by God’s grace to be victorious over every temptation.  We know that God has called us as men to bePROTECTORS and PROVIDERS.  

We are GUARDIANS.  The guardians of our homes, the guardians of our churches, the guardians of our institutions, the guardians of our country and the guardians of truth and morality in human society.  All too often, however, we fail miserably.  Marriages crumble.  Churches forsake biblical truth.  Governments compromise.  Moral values in society decay and disappear.  One reason for these failures is that men are defeated before they start.  If they cannot win the battles in their own heart over sin, how can they effectively fight the battles without?  Such is the reasoning and such is the defeatism.  We must become GUARDIANS, first and foremost, over our hearts.  As it says in Proverbs 4:23, Above all else guard your hearts for it affects everything you do.   Another verse in Proverbs tells us that he that ruleth his own spirit is mightier than he who takes a city (Proverbs 16:32).  We must learn how to guard our own hearts.  We must learn how to rule our own spirits.

GUARDIANS is a ministry in the local church that empowers men to be victorious in their personal lives over sin and Satan by equipping them with spiritual weapons and encouraging them in a brotherhood of “compassionate accountability.”  It is a program that requires the following of a specific discipline, the study of scripture, involvement in a local body of Christ, and a weekly meeting with an accountability partner.

GUARDIANS will meet the second Saturday of every month in Fletcher Hall, East Campus, and will follow this basic schedule:

    8:00  A. M.         Breakfast

    8:30 – 8:45        Praise and Worship

    8:45 – 9:15        Testimony or Teaching

    9:15 – 9:30        Accountability

    9:30 – 10:00      Observance of the Lord’s Supper

It is felt that the best time to meet for GUARDIANS is Saturday morning but early enough in the morning to get back home for weekend activities. 

The symbolic motif for GUARDIANS is medieval knighthood. The ideals of the chivalric code of Christian knighthood--purity, courage, honor, courtesy, largesse--are at the heart of GUARDIANS, as well as the custom of binding oneself with commitments to a faith, a fraternity and a discipline.

There are three annual events that will represent banner events for GUARDIANS.  These are three formal banquets that will held in Fletcher Hall, East Campus, with all the décor of medieval chivalry.  The first banquet will be our annual St. Valentines Day banquet held the Friday night before February 14th.  This will be for wives and sweethearts.

The second banquet will be our annual May Day banquet held the Friday night nearest May 1st.  This will be a Father-Daughter (Grandfather-Granddaughter) Banquet.

The third banquet will be an annual Warriors banquet held the Friday night nearest Veteran’s Day, November 11. This will be a Father-Son (Grandfather-Grandson) Banquet.  It will also be the occasion at which we present the “Golden Knight” award, an annual award given to the man who best embodies the core values of the GUARDIANS. 

Other commitments of the GUARDIANS include a constant willingness to assist the elderly or single moms in maintenance or repair tasks around the house or with the automobile and an intentional willingness to mentor children of our congregation in single parent homes.
