Time Flies . . . Whether Your having Fun or Not

Where does the time go?  It seemed only a week ago that our seniors were graduating and here it is the last full week in June!  I have no explanation for it, unless it’s my age.  The older I get, the faster time flies.

It doesn’t help that, in addition to the usual chaos, Susan and I are moving into a new house—around the corner.  We were renting a house on Doris, now we own a house on Julie (one street to the west) and are, by countless trips a day, moving in.  Hopefully, we will be all moved in by the end of the month when our lease is up.

Another way in which you can sense time flying, is when we get the latest pictures of your grandkids.  When you don’t see them as much as you used to, and the days and weeks go by, the next time you see them, either in person or by picture, you are astounded by how much they have grown or really, how much more mature they look.  You just want to put a rock on their head and slow them down, or freeze them with a time machine.  Our babies are all growing up!

So again, I am reminded that “time” is truly the most precious of all resources.  Time is too short to waste on family squabbles, neighborhood spats, church gossip, television, too much FaceBook, sleeping till noon, 10 hour workdays, being inside when the weather’s nice, burning the candle at both ends with a blow torch, and misplaced priorities.  With God’s help, find the balance between work and play, family and friends.  Work just as hard at smelling the roses as you do earning the paycheck.  And always, always remember the Creator and spend time alone with God.  “Redeem the time,” the Scriptures say.  You do that, and you will redeem yourself and your family as well.
