The above line from the worship song “The More I Seek You” always reminds me of Communion. There is an intimacy in that song that describes our relationship with the Lord, especially in the Sacrament. And truly, the end result of that “holy re-enactment” should be to “know” and “feel” the Lord’s heartbeat. That is true “union” with the Lord. More than just a casual nod in the Lord’s direction. More than a hasty “thank you” for what the Lord has done. It is a genuine and sincere hunger to be one with God and the provision of his table to meet that hunger in the presence of our enemies.
One of the historical psalms recounts the special relationship that Moses had with God: “The Lord made known his works to Israel, but his ways he made known to Moses.” It’s the heartbeat that God want us to know, not the handiwork.
This coming Sunday we are going to celebrate the Lord’s Supper in the morning services. Of course, we offer communion every Sunday in the chapel at 8:00, but this coming Sunday, we are going to do in all three services. The sermon is going focus on the power of communion in our lives. Based on a story from the life of Joseph, the sermon is entitled “The Claim of the Cup.” Don’t miss it
