What a great Super Bowl! Two premier quarterbacks with pinpoint accuracy, delivering passes like rockets on a string. Only . . . one team lost and one team won. The difference? The pass receiving. The Saints caught passes. The Colts dropped them.
Even the most effective quarterback in the world cannot win games when the passes they throw are dropped. And generally, it is the failure of the receiver to “look the ball into his hands” or “running before he’s caught the ball.” Nothing can replace this basic fundamental of pass receiving—KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE BALL!
Perhaps you can see where I am going with this analogy. A great event like STATE OF THE CHURCH can throw a perfect pass, but if the members of the church do not “catch it” and then “run with it,” we’re in trouble. I am happy to say that last week we had some great pass-catching in our church! We had a total of 142 commitment envelopes turned in. This compared to only 26 the previous Sunday for a total, to date, of 168. This number compares to 278 last year at this same time. The total commitment envelopes received last year was 342. So, as you can see, we still have a ways to go.
Jesus Christ is our main focus. Our mission statement is to “Seek and to Save the lost, and to Disciple and Deploy the saved.” We believe that the only way to truly do that as a church is by making our witness, living our life, INSIDE-OUT. All of this for the glory, the honor, and the pleasure of Christ!
Let’s KEEP OUR EYES on Him and, together, we will win this game.
