Handbell & Chimes

Psalm 134:2 “Lift up your hands in the Sanctuary and praise the Lord.”

ADULT HANDBELLS

The Alleluia Ringers are made up of both men and women who love to learn how to worship the Lord in different ways.  Their ministry includes ringing in worship, special concerts, participating in handbell festivals and ringing at Retirement Homes.  The music we play is at times difficult but with a little time and work, even those who have little or no previous ringing experience can master the challenge.

HANDCHIME MINISTRY for 4th and 5th Grade

Handchimes provide a great way to teach children the basics of music, team work and self discipline.  The instrument looks like a giant tuning for, and the tone quality is pure and lovely.  The chimes are different sizes depending on the pitch they produce: the smaller the chime, the higher the pitch and are rung by snapping the wrist, which sets in motion a clapper attached to the chime.  Chimes are much more durable than handbells and provide a relatively inexpensive way to learn handbell technique and basic music reading skills.

Our handchime group, the Saint Stephen Chimers, consists of 4th and 5th graders.
